Full-Time Seasonal Labourers

Catholic Cemeteries - Archdiocese of Toronto is currently looking for Seasonal Labourers for our properties located in Vaughan, Mississauga and Barrie.  This is a temporary full time position for our 2008 season starting in March and ending in November, five days per week, Monday to Saturday, with opportunities of annual recall and/or full time employment.  The seasonal labourer is responsible for working as part of a team along side full time labourers to participate in the Catholic burial process and to ensure the maintenance of the cemetery property.

Duties Include:

  • Assist in interment, entombment and disinterment processes.
  • Perform various landscaping and janitorial duties.
  • Assist in the installation and/or maintenance of memoralization items.
  • Assist in preparing for religious celebrations.

 General Skills and Qualifications:

  • 1 to 2 years of previous experience and/or knowledge in one or more of the following areas: general labourer, landscaping and/or general construction.
  • Physically able to do heavy lifting, bend, stoop, climb, reach and walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • High school education or equivalent preferred and Ontario Class G Drivers License in good standing is required.

                  Security Representative (Part - time)

Catholic Cemeteries - Archdiocese of Toronto currently requires a Security Representative to join our team at Holy Cross Cemetery located in Thornhill.

The Security Representative is responsible for conducting regularly scheduled property and facilities inspections. Liaison with designated security company and co-ordinate alarm systems, securing buildings and gates and addressing any security breachs. Provide detailed security reports. When not inspecting property, assist in providing customer service to visitors and provide them with information and burial site locations. This position is scheduled for Cemetery office during off peak hours of operation. A minimum of 14 hours per week can be expected to be worked on Thursday and Friday afternoons and from 10am to 4 pm on Sundays and most Statutory Holidays; some Saturdays also available.

The ideal candidate will possess strong written and oral communication skills, time management skills, ability to demonstrate tact, discretion and professionalism at all times and the ability to work independently. A valid Class G Ontario Drivers Licence with a clear drivers abstract and a clear Police Clearance Letter required. Preference will be given to candidates that possess the following: First Aid/CPR training, previous security experience and recognized law/security education.

               Sales Counsellor - Assumption Cemetery

 

Catholic Cemeteries - Archdiocese of Toronto currently requires a Sales Counsellor to join our team at Assumption Cemetery located in Mississauga.

Major Activities/Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the selling of both pre-need and at-need Interment Rights, Supplies and Services.
  • Creation and Maintenance of sales and burial records, ensuring accuracy of information.
  • Work with families to design and order bronze markers and monuments.  Complete and process related paperwork.
  • Ongoing customer service for families both in person or phone inquiries,                answering questions and handling complaints.
  • Liaison and provide direction through cemetery foreman on burial locations and set ups.
  • Liaison with funeral directors to co-ordinate Funeral arrangement as per families needs.
  • Development and ongoing follow-up on sales and leads.  Obtain referrals from existing families.
  • Represent Catholic Cemeteries at parish presentations, masses and special events.

 Skills & Knowledge:

Education

  • College Education or equivalent experience.

 Experience

    • 2 – 5 years of Cemetery Sales experience is preferred prior to start of position
    • Bereavement Sales related experience
    • Portuguese Speaking an asset

 Skills & Competencies

  • Communication, interpersonal, time management, Sales & Customer Service, computer and Ontario Class G Drivers’ License in good standing required
