Catholic Cemeteries – Archdiocese of Toronto -

Holy Cross Cemetery is located south of Highway 407 on Yonge Street in Thornhill.  The property extends to Bayview Avenue, with an alternate entrance on Langstaff Road.

By the 1950′s the Catholic population had begun to grow and with it Mount Hope and St. Michael’s Cemeteries were beginning to approach capacity.

The Archdiocese looked north and in 1954 consecrated Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Thornhill.  Over the past 50 years Holy Cross has progressively grown to its present size of 145 acres, stretching from Yonge Street to Bayview Avenue.

The Cemetery is home to a variety of Shrine sections, two prayer gardens and Holy Family Mausoleum that dominates the Bayview side of the cemetery.

Holy Cross cemetery reflects the growth and diversity of  the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Toronto.  It stands ready to grow into the future to meet the needs of the Catholic Community.

A selection of burial services is available including mausoleum and cremation entombment as well as ground burial in monument lots, flat marker and cremation graves.

 Holy Family Mausoleum
One of the most prominent features at Holy Cross Cemetery is the Holy Family Mausoleum.  This three storey building has many magnificent bronze statues and several committal chapels.  The Holy Family Mausoleum offers a variety of entombment choices.  In addition to marble-faced crypts and niches, there are glass front niches.  All are available as single and double spaces.  The climate controlled mausoleum is equipped with washrooms and elevators.

Upright Monument Lots
Holy Cross Cemetery offers a selection of ground interment options.  There are single, double, triple and quad grave lots which can accommodate upright monuments.

Flat Bronze Marker Graves
Another ground interment choice is a grave with a bronze marker (memorial) set flush to the ground with a granite base.  These flat bronze marker graves are located in Shrine Sections featuring beautiful religious statues amongst carefully maintained flower gardens.

Section 20 – Now Open

Holy Cross Cemetery is pleased to announce that section 20 is now open on the Yonge Street side of the cemetery. A variety of interment rights are available.  

Memorials and Vaults
Holy Cross Cemetery offers an extensive selection of memorials and interment products.  Memorials such as granite monuments can be purchased in various colours, styles and sizes.  Bronze markers give you the choice of personalizing the marker with a wide range of designs.  A selection of urns and vaults is also available for purchase.
